The board structure is set out in its bylaws and policies.  The board structures itself by first listing all of the responsibilities it must carry out, deciding how much time and effort will be required, the frequency with which each function must be done, and then making a judgment as to what will be done by the full board, the chair, the executive committee, and the other committees of the board.
